Undergraduate Program -- Environmental Studies Concentration

Environmental StudiesAre you interested in the environment?  Are you interested in the interconnectedness of life?  Are you concerned about loss of habitat, global warming, and other aspects of the human impact on the natural world?  If these and other environmental issues are interesting to you, the Environmental Studies major may be for you.

The goals of the BA (16 courses) and BS (19 courses) programs in Environmental Studies are to:

     -increase environmental awareness

     -to develop environmental issues from different disciplinary perspectives

     -to illustrate the interaction of natural and social scientific disciplines in addressing environmental issues

     -to develop relevant analytical, spatial and field skills

     -to focus student learning in specialized tracks in environmental policy, resources or education

     -to provide a one-semester, capstone “Environmental Internship

Sophomore and Junior Environmental Studies students may be eligible for the Morris K. Udall Scholarship

 

Environmental Studies Minor requirements

Students in the Environmental Studies Minor (8 courses) take
SSC 118, Introduction to Environmental Studies

Environmental Studiesand 1 course from...
“Social Science Core”,
“Evolutionary Biology,
“Field Ecology”

one course each...
“Environmental Policy”,
“Environmental Resources”
and “Environmental Education”

Minors may choose “Internship”, or additional course from “Policy”, “Resources” or “Education”.
