::  In addition to the major University at Buffalo Libraries, UB also possesses an unrivaled Poetry/Rare Books Collection. Books, manuscripts, letters, journals, and photographs from twentieth-century English and American literature abound, carefully catalogued and easily accessible in modern, comfortable surroundings on the North Campus. The James Joyce Collection is especially large, as are the holdings in modern American poetry, such as the William Carlos Williams Collection.

Buffalo also boasts one of the most comprehensive holdings of contemporary poetry and small-press publications. In recent years some of our graduate students have been involved in an innovative and exciting hypertext project called LiTgloss. It is sponsored by the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures and is designed to facilitate reading foreign languages by providing key texts in their original languages with extensive glossaries. The Electronic Poetry Center, directed by Loss Pequeño Glazier and Charles Berstein, is an internationally recognized web-based resource.

UB has long been one of the most active centers of film studies in America. The University's Department of Media Study provides courses and regular showings, its Department of English offers courses in film history and criticism, and Buffalo's Albright-Knox Art Gallery -- one of the finest museums of twentieth-century art in the world -- sponsors a variety of film festivals.
